Challenge & Solution
Goodnotes* is expanding into new markets and serving a broader range of user needs, especially among professionals. Previously, Goodnotes primarily supported handwritten notes, but we saw strong demand from users who wanted to type meeting notes, prepare case studies, and capture learning notes directly in Goodnotes.
Text Documents is a typing-first, pageless format designed for structured writing in Goodnotes. Users can combine blocks, rich text formatting, tables, media, collaboration, and Goodnotes AI to create and organize content.
My Role
Product Designer (Project Lead): I led the end-to-end design of the core typing and content-editing experience ahead of the major product release. I partnered closely with engineers, the product manager, cross-functional designers, and the CEO to launch Goodnotes’ first text-based file type across tablet, mobile, web, and other platforms. After launch, I continued to refine the experience and shape the design direction for future iterations.
Impact
In just a few months, more than 2 million Text Document files were created in Goodnotes.
